I used to rely on the tools 'Instsrv. I'd like to know if I can use the same tools version on my new Windows 7 Enterprise x If not, is there any other tools that do the equivalent job of creating services in Windows 7?
We may use Installer Tool Installutil. We can also use Sc. From memory these programs could turn any arbitrary executable into a service, but given the forum the request is posted I presume its a. NET application and you have access to modify the source. I orginially posted the question on Windows 7 Forums but was told to post it here because it is more "suited". I have successful tested instrsrv. Create a folder to contain the files instrsrv. Now open a command prompt and install foobar as a system service using the following command.
Double-click on Application and enter the full path to foobar. You can now close the registry editor. By default, the newly created service foobar is configured to run automatically when the system is restarted.
To change this setting to Manual, run the Services applet by entering services.
